From the beginning of July, all business customers of BNP Paribas Bank in Poland will be able to use the Envirly platform. This innovative service, supported by artificial intelligence algorithms, enables easy calculation and management of the carbon footprint and streamlines the organization’s ESG reporting processes. Micro-enterprises can use this tool for reporting in Scope 1 and 2 completely free of charge. For SMEs cooperating with the Bank, Envirly has a special offer that includes preferential prices, depending on the scope of support.

BNP Paribas Bank has been actively supporting its customers in the process of sustainable transformation for years, offering a wide range of sustainable financial products and helping them adapt to the new requirements of the EU CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), which will cover most businesses in Poland from 2026. In 2023, the Bank started cooperation with Envirly, which has developed an innovative tool for measuring carbon footprint.

Free access to Envirly for micro-enterprises and preferential terms for SMEs

The first micro-enterprises can use Envirly to measure their environmental impact in Scope 1 and 2 free of charge from 1 July 2024. As part of the planned, long-term cooperation, the Bank offers attractive financial terms for SMEs. For the first month, they can use the platform for free and then – at preferential prices, tailored to their individual needs and the scope of necessary support.

“Cooperation with Envirly allows us to better support customers in managing their carbon footprint and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Continuing our collaboration with Envirly, after a pilot program for SMEs, we are now making the platform available to all our business customers. This tool enables easy calculation of the carbon footprint, i.e. direct emissions and those related to electricity consumption. This way, our business customers receive comprehensive assistance in monitoring and reducing emissions. It is also an excellent opportunity to achieve even better cooperation between trading partners and meet the standards many businesses require, which will soon become a market obligation. Therefore, the Bank’s customers can take advantage of a wide range of financing for investments related to ESG goals or raising management standards following ESG principles,” – says Jarek Rot, Executive Director of the Sustainable Development Area at BNP Paribas Bank.

New platform capabilities

The Envirly platform enables reporting following international standards and norms, such as the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1. During the pilot version, the Envirly platform was used to calculate the carbon footprint and monitor changes in emissions resulting from investments in energy efficiency or thermal modernization. Thanks to such an investment, the tool is developing rapidly and now also offers a module for calculating the product’s carbon footprint (LCA) and a module for reporting ESG data.

“Such an advanced tool, combined with advisory support for the Bank’s customers, constitutes a significant advantage in the market. Especially since the carbon footprint will soon become an important criterion when choosing a business partner. Monitoring and reducing it is a chance to increase energy efficiency and reduce costs, which is the foundation of the development of every business. Additionally, the growing pro-ecological expectations of consumers mean that businesses that do not adapt to this trend may lose their competitive position,” – says Mateusz Masiak, CEO at Envirly.

How to use the calculator as a micro-enterprise?

To use the calculator on the Envirly platform, the customer enters his/her data in the registration form available on the Bank’s website, and then in the next step sets up an account on the Envirly platform and can start using the calculator. The calculator is easy to use and does not require specialist knowledge of greenhouse gas emissions. Based on the individual data of each business, Envirly presents a report on the emissions and includes proposals for actions to reduce them. The customer can automatically aggregate data without needing specialist environmental knowledge and be inspired by proposals for reduction actions. The Envirly platform also allows for generating substantive input (charts, infographics, etc.), which is particularly useful for organizations that prepare sustainable development reports – both mandatory and additional. The platform also allows the use of collected data to prepare an energy transformation strategy, prioritize investments, and provide full support at every stage.

“The Envirly platform, using modern technology, is a driving force for sustainable development initiatives. This technology helps to address challenges such as data aggregation, mapping, and monitoring of the supply chain, which allows for detailed tracking of the origin of raw materials and products and their impact on the environment. This tool also allows for a comprehensive analysis of the collected data, which allows for concluding areas requiring improvement. I am convinced that this solution will be an important element for our customers in achieving their sustainable development goals, increasing operational efficiency, and building a competitive advantage on the market,” – sums up Gizela GorÄ…czyÅ„ska, Sustainable Development Programs Manager at BNP Paribas Bank.
