EFL in Poland continues its eco-offensive and releases a new tool as part of the Greenify project. Every entrepreneur can use the free carbon footprint calculator available at www.efl.pl to estimate and compare the amount of greenhouse gas emissions of vehicles, machines, and devices or the level of their reduction thanks to the use of renewable energy sources (Renewable Energy Sources). EFL financed in the first half of 2023 green assets with a total value of almost PLN 145 million, which places it among the three largest lessors. Moreover, the company is the leader in financing photovoltaic installations with 16%. market share.

Carbon footprint calculator

EFL is the first financial institution to provide entrepreneurs with the first calculator in Poland that estimates the differences in the size of the operational carbon footprint of a single investment – a passenger car, a truck, a machine, or a device. The tool allows us to estimate the size of the carbon footprint for both a standard fixed asset and a low-emission asset (electric or e.g. with lower consumption of a given type of energy). The difference in CO2 equivalent emissions between fixed assets is shown as “CO2 emission savings per year”. To illustrate the impact on the climate, it is presented in the form of the number of trees that would have to be planted to absorb this amount of CO2.

Additionally, the calculator allows one to estimate the profitability of purchasing a low-emission asset compared to a standard “high-emission” fixed asset. and relating the difference in the purchase price and operation to savings on energy costs along with verification of the payback period. Thanks to this, the entrepreneur will find out whether and when investing in more expensive, but energy-saving or green energy equipment is more profitable due to lower operating costs. Moreover, the calculator in the “PHOTOVOLTAICS” section will estimate the result of avoided greenhouse gas emissions thanks to “clean” produced” energy from the sun.

The calculator is available at www.efl.pl.

The tool was prepared by the Greenify project team at EFL in cooperation with experts from the Climate Strategies Poland Foundation, which supports companies on their way to climate neutrality and is also involved in the fight against climate disinformation and greenwashing.
