ING Bank Śląski in Poland has implemented a mobile application that allows its customers to accept contactless payments on devices with the Android operating system.
From December 2021, the solution was used by a group of test customers, and now the application is available to all ING business customers. The ING e-POS application can be downloaded from the Google Play store.

“At ING, we are consistently developing tools that enable our customers to make cashless payments because most Poles want to pay without cash. As much as 97 % of card payments are contactless payments. However, a traditional terminal is not the optimal solution for some businesses. We believe that our application will offer them new opportunities. Now they can accept payment wherever there is cellular or WiFi coverage. Meeting customers‘ expectations becomes much easier,” – says Ewa Łuniewska, Vice President of the Management Board of ING Bank Śląski.
The e-POS application by ING allows customers to accept payments on a phone or tablet with Android 8.0 or higher and an NFC antenna. Payments are accepted with Mastercard, Visa, and digital wallets: Apple Pay and Google Pay, and contactless Blik.
After logging in to the application, the seller enters the transaction amount, and the payer places the card, his phone, or watch on the NFC reader built into the back cover of the phone. If the customer needs a payment confirmation, he can receive it by e-mail directly from the application or download it via a QR code from the seller’s screen. The application also allows them to view the history of transactions, return funds from previous transactions or cancel the last of them, e.g. when the wrong amount has been entered.

“We wanted to provide our customers with the best possible experience from the first contact with the application, so we consulted our ideas with them. Thanks to this, we designed a friendly activation on the phone. The application guides you through the entire process. The first group of customers assessed our e-POS very positively. We hope that its convenience will convince many Polish companies,” – says Kamil Adamski, Merchant Services Director, ING Bank Śląski.
The e-POS application by ING is offered in the “pay when using” pricing model. There are no activation or use fees; the Bank only charges the transaction fee. The application is also available in the Cashless Poland Program, to which ING adds another two months of free use.
Companies that want to use the application sign a contract entirely remotely in the ING application (Moje ING) or ING Business online banking and handle payments from customers as part of their relationship with the Bank. As a result, the money is quickly available in the company’s account – no later than 10.00 am on the next business day.
The e-POS application by ING meets all the security requirements defined by the organizations: Mastercard, VISA, and the Payment Card Industry. The technology provider is Softpos.
