BNP Paribas Bank in Poland continues to develop open banking services. It is the first Bank in Poland to introduce an extensive Premium API service – the Personal Data Information Service (PDIS). This solution allows the Bank’s business partners to verify and confirm the data of their customers or counterparties, e.g. to sign an agreement or make a transaction. The Bank also allows them to verify as many as 35 attributes, i.e. identification data, that it already has. The information confirmation process is carried out completely safely based on modern API following the highest standards of customer and business partner data protection.
The Personal Data Information Service (PDIS) as a digital banking service
Open banking, the development of which was supported by the EU PSD2 directive of 2019, is a key element of the development strategy of BNP Paribas Bank. In simple terms, these are digital financial services, the provision of which is possible thanks to banks providing third parties (the so-called TPP – Third Party Provider) with a solution supporting their business processes. These services are provided using specialized, secure software (API). The introduction of the Personal Data Information Service (PDIS) is the next step in providing innovative solutions for the Bank’s customers and business partners. PDIS provides access to a simple and secure data confirmation mechanism, enabling Customer identification based on a pool of as many as 35 compliance features processed by BNP Paribas Bank, thanks to which the processes of KYC, registration, automatic completion of online forms, activation of new services, changes in subscription plans and identity confirmation become easier. The PDIS solution significantly accelerates and improves the implementation of business processes of the Bank’s partners.
“The implementation of the Personal Data Information Service at BNP Paribas Bank, as part of the API Premium service catalog, is particularly important for the development of digital remote processes that require data verification and identity confirmation. Our business partners who use the PDIS service gain the opportunity to verify the important data we have about their customers or counterparties. These include, for example, name, last name, nationality, country of birth, confirmation of reaching the age of majority, or Bank account number. The proper use of this data translates into more effective processes for our partners and supports their competitiveness in the market. Naturally, we ensure compliance with the data security standards for which we are responsible, and each verification requires the prior consent of our customer,” – says Jakub BanaÅ›, Product Owner of the Open Banking Platform at BNP Paribas Bank.
35 key attributes for businesses
A wide range of identification data that can be verified under PDIS includes name, middle name, surname, maiden name, Personal Identification Number (PESEL), type of ID document, date of issue, validity of the ID document, age check, account balance, TAX Identification Number (NIP), and citizenship or identification data companies in the case of business customers. The Bank’s partners have the opportunity to use this data depending on the needs of their process.
“The PDIS service is used in the automatic filling out of forms and registration in online services, customer verification during the purchasing process, concluding commercial contracts, improving scoring models, confirmation of age by providers of services and products addressed to adults, verification of candidates’ data during recruitment, as well as many other processes that need access to reliable identification data. It is an effective tool and crucial in building safe and lasting relationships with customers. Thanks to precise and safe verification using reliable information, our partners gain the trust of their customers,” – says Jakub BanaÅ›.
How to take advantage of PDIS?
The service is offered in the form of API Premium. Documentation and answers to the most frequently asked questions can be found here. Thanks to easy integration, customers can quickly improve their business process, e.g. filling out a form. The supplier requiring the customer to complete the registration form can simplify the customer’s path and automate it, e.g. by adding the “Fill in bank details” action button. This will enable the form to be automatically completed with information coming directly from BNP Paribas Bank. Before the data transfer, the customer will be asked to consent to submit them. As a result, the registration form will be automatically completed, saving the customer the tedious task of entering a lot of information, and the entire process will take only a few seconds.
The implementation of the Personal Data Information Service at BNP Paribas Bank is an important step in the development of digital services, increasing the offer of open banking solutions.
