The SoftPOS is an application developed by Nexi, a paytech company active in the dynamically expanding European markets and in technologically advanced countries, which is already available for business customers at UniCredit Bank in Hungary. With the help of the application, the users can offer card payment options to their customers using their mobile phones as a POS.
The SoftPOS allows entrepreneurs, such as retailers, craftsmen, and freelancers, including hairdressers, couriers, and plumbers, to use their smartphones as digital payment terminals with the help of the app. Using the app, NFC-enabled Android smartphones and tablets accept contactless payments of any amount – even by entering a PIN code thanks to the PIN On Glass function. This means that no separate hardware is required, and the application also meets the highest security standards.
Thanks to SoftPOS, entrepreneurs do not need to rent a physical POS, which means a noticeable cost reduction. The app offers statistics and graphs of payment transactions, so users can track traffic trends while their consumers can make purchases with their contactless payment devices, such as cards, mobile wallets, or smart devices.
“At UniCredit Bank, we work on digital solutions that provide answers to everyday challenges. It is of utmost importance for our bank to offer modern digital solutions to our customers and to support them in simplifying their business financial processes. One of the stops is the innovative, the software-based SoftPOS, which offers unique advantages. The application fits perfectly into our digital strategy, and at the same time contributes to the spread of cashless payments in Hungary,” – emphasized Giacomo Volpi, Deputy CEO of UniCredit Bank.
“We are proud of our innovative SoftPOS solution, which represents another step for Nexi in the development of initiatives aimed at improving the customer experience. Turning a mobile device into the POS demonstrates our commitment to creating an intelligent payment ecosystem and our role as a leading technology partner in the sector,” – said Eugenio Tornaghi, Head of International Markets at Nexi Payments.
